Executive Elegance in the Country
The Challenge : Create a unique and cozy mood for each interior section of a large-scaled executive bungalow.
Some may say this was a designer’s dream project, a blank slate. But what is important with a blank slate is ensuring you don’t let your mind wander freely in a creative sense. I had to design spaces that met the needs of my client while keeping each space unique to it’s purpose by providing symmetry and flow in the process. It wasn’t about the 38 interior paint colours chosen for the home but more about the symmetry and balance, scale and proportion and creating an impact while providing interesting spaces of warmth and coziness. I want coziness, a “welcome feel,” were my client’s exact words and this was essential to my success with this project.
Home is an environment in which you are your true self and I knew my client wanted those that entered their home to feel that energy and warmth. From the 5×8 solid Birdseye maple kitchen island to the handcrafted stone fireplace, each detail in this home was carefully designed and crafted by local trades. I still wanted a really ‘wow’ space for her, so we agreed to take the powder room and create a jaw dropping beautiful space off the grid from the rest of the home, interesting and with a pinch of luxury was the final product. I couldn’t have a better result then my client’s telling me, they are living their style.
