WOWSA!

It's a BIG day for us at Lori Clarke Interior Design Inc. * We got PUBLISHED in a magazine 🙂 * A little back story ... early in the summer I was contacted by one of the writers for East Coast Living Magazine. He was wondering if I would like to collaborate with other Atlantic Designers (one designer per province) on a story for their Fall edition. I was delighted to get the call and I must say even more so to collaborate with designers from NS and NFLD. * I never set out on this business journey to get my work recognized in a magazine but... this is pretty darn cool.
*None of this would even happen if it was not for the trust of our client’s and to all of you who take the time to follow the journey with us every week. * I am humbled and excited and I just want you to know I will probably buy out every subscription in the Fredericton area :)
* BIG Shout Out to my guy Chris Griffiths @bangonphoto . I have been working with Chris since 2014 he never disappoints. The photos look pretty awesome in print 🙂

Project Aberdeen
Day 2- The European Flair

Our Aberdeen clients have a European connection with Spanish and French ancestry. Lee and I wanted to bring a European flair to the design.

Our research showed that several European kitchens utilize a wood countertop. This authentic walnut butcher block island top was the starting point for the kitchen design. That same wood was balanced off in the vent hood and floating shelves above the stove, adding yet another touch of European style and warmth. The ceramic tiled floor was replaced with solid warm hardwood to anchor the kitchen in luxury and comfort.
Mixing metals which is one of our favorite design elements and this is present in the kitchen brass handles/pulls and tap as it plays off the stainless-steel appliances. Everything doesn’t have to be utilitarian, mixing metals, colours and textures can be really beautiful and functional.
A feature wall was created in a dark striking navy black paint colour. The sight line entering the kitchen now has a vivid background to which displays a print created by an artist Dina Milovanov https://dina.milovanov.ca/ from Toronto. This print creates interest and captures a special feeling, that’s what art is – a feeling a story.

Lee and I hope you have enjoyed the reveal of Project Aberdeen. We know the warmth of this kitchen is sure to live on for many many years.

Project Aberdeen
Day 1- The Cabinets
There is nothing we love more than collaborating with our clients. Having them engaged in the project and hearing their life stories helps us create a space that truly reflects them. We knew our Aberdeen clients both loved to cook and what was even more evident is their love of family and friends and sharing their passion to bring them together over food and drink. I read somewhere once that “food just tastes better when you eat it with your family”. I can see how this resonates so well with Project Aberdeen.

I truly believe and I see it with our clients over the last year, people want to create a space that feels like them. This is important because it provides the opportunity to tell your story and showcase your culture and style. In Project Aberdeen we didn’t want to design a generic styled kitchen, it was extremely important to our clients that the kitchen design mirror the integrity of the home.
I call this project "The Kitchen with Personality.” Lee and I know we created a space that enhances fucntion and feels personal to our clients.
